Technical Support

Job Description

Reldata is looking for a highly motivated, team oriented, and process driven engineer who will be responsible for providing pre-sales and post- sales technical support to new and existing customers, VAR’s and OEM’s.  The engineer will provide deployment planning, technical presentation, configuration and installations of the company’s product and services. As a member of the 24 x 7 support team, the engineer will manage, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support existing and new clients. The engineer will be required to have excellent communication, analytical and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Document and develop operating procedures related to setup, development and maintenance of SAN technologies
  • Provide pre and post-sales services; work with sales team to understand customer requirements and scope appropriate services
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot Reldata hardware and software products into diverse network environments
  • Identify problems and propose solutions in a timely manner. Engineer is expected to handle customer requests expeditiously and professionally
  • Interface with customers via phone, email and web
  • Provide technical support, installation assistance, reproduce customer bug scenarios, escalate applicable cases to appropriate department (engineering, marketing/sales, operations, etc.)

Education & Experience

BS degree in any of the following majors: Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Network Technology or Systems Engineering.

5-7 years technical support experience required.

Position Requirements:

  • In depth working knowledge of:
    • Hypervisors (VMware ESX/ESXi/vSPhere, Citrix XenServer, Hyper-V, etc...)
    • SAN and NAS storage (iSCSI, FC, CIFS, NFS, RAID)
    • Planning, administration and deployment of storage arrays
    • Windows and Linux Administration
    • LAN/WAN technology
    • Knowledge of backup/restore, disaster recovery, storage consolidation, data protection, storage performance, etc
    • Extensive experience with problem resolution, root cause analysis, etc. of hardware/software platform problems in complex, client/server based software
    • Ability to learn and demonstrate storage market knowledge by understanding the competitive products
    • Proven success supporting enterprise level customers
    • Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of mission-critical software and hardware solutions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
    • Positive attitude, hardworking and dependable
    • Must be willing to travel on short notice (25%)
    • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs

Senior Storage Test Engineer

Test state-of-the-art storage virtualization platform; specifically, derive user test cases from product requirements document, execute test cases, isolate duplication scenarios through further testing, document problems using defect tracking system, help developer unit test the fix, then verify fix in production build. As appropriate, design and implement automated test cases. Aid Product Support Team by recreating customer configurations and designing test cases to reproduce field problems.

Essential Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment; specifically he/she must be able to contribute immediately, and with a minimum of on-going supervision. The candidate must be comfortable working in a loosely structured, high-performing team environment, where he/she may be asked to contribute outside of the formal job description. The candidate must be thoroughly familiar with the core technologies of modern storage subsystems such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SAS, SATA, RAID, Snapshot, Replication, NAS, SAN, etc. He/she must be process-oriented and be intimately familiar with modern test technologies and tools and must be able to contribute at all levels of testing including Unit-, Functional-, System Integration-, and Performance Test. The candidate must be familiar with all of the test-related aspects of the product life cycle, and must have completed at least one-full cycle in a previous position.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate would have the ability to develop complex software (using C) and/or user-oriented graphical interfaces (using Java), enabling him/her to maintain test infrastructure tools and perhaps even contribute to product development. Also, the ideal candidate would have the experience, leadership, and communication skills necessary to build and maintain a small but highly effective test organization.
